Community
Pretty River Academy students participate in co-operative education which allows them to get a sense of working in a business setting within our community. These experiences compliment the philosophy of giving back which Pretty River Academy is known for.
The students are also involved in a variety of volunteer capacities within the community. They freely give their time to local nursing homes and other agencies, and raise money for a number of different charities both locally and globally. They express themselves through art, music and shared experiences. Pretty River Academy students learn about the different levels of government by being active participants in council meetings and working closely with partners in our local townships and organizations.
To augment regular programming, Pretty River Academy brings in a wide range of community members to share their area of expertise with the students. These individuals provide knowledge and experience beyond that of our every day curriculum. Through this arrangement, the students are exposed to a number of diverse learning opportunities and build lasting relationships within the community. This approach is especially exciting for the students since we are fortunate enough to be surrounded by a wealth of knowledge in our area.
