Head Of School Message

As Head of School at Pretty River Academy, I am honoured to be part of a learning community where children are known, challenged and celebrated, educators are empowered, and learning connects meaningfully to the real world.

As an educational leader, I enjoy strengthening how learning is designed, led and experienced. My perspective has been shaped by more than 20 years of senior leadership and learning design work across Canada, Asia and the Middle East, with experience spanning K–12 and International Baccalaureate education, whole-school strategy and improvement, accreditation and evaluation, and progressive, evidence-informed learning design.

I believe that when learning is coherent, intentional and connected to the world around us, curiosity and agency grow. Children develop the confidence to ask questions, take thoughtful risks, solve problems and see themselves as capable learners. This is supported by educators who are present, responsive and committed to knowing each child well.

At PRA, I am focused on strengthening our learning community by supporting strong adult practice, shared responsibility and reflective decision-making. I value collaboration and believe that the best learning environments are built together—through meaningful partnerships among students, educators, families and the wider community.

My work has included aligning leadership and school structures, connecting curriculum, assessment and pedagogy, supporting inclusive environments and thoughtful transitions, building adult capacity through coaching and collaborative practice, and exploring emerging technologies, including AI, in ways that support learning and student agency.

Above all, I value the impact of a powerful learning community grounded in presence, curiosity and shared responsibility. I look forward to working alongside the PRA community as we continue to design meaningful learning experiences, nurture confident and resilient learners, and help every child discover what they are capable of becoming.
